Weatherford’s FIRMA group claim victory at OWI Awards 2022
At this year’s OWI Awards 2022, Weatherford walked away victorious with the prestigious Significant Contribution to the Industry award.
To be recognised for the achievements made throughout a company’s life cycle is a huge accomplishment, and Weatherford earned its recognition through its impressive portfolio, with specific emphasis on its FIRMA team’s rigless framework approach to the decommissioning of pre-abandoned wells.
“Peer recognition provides good validation that we are focused on creating value for our clients in a collaborative alliance, that enables the collective team to realise outcomes that conventional contracting simply cannot achieve,” said Steven Canny, Global Director of Well Abandonment, Weatherford.
“This project the award recognises – a first in country, requiring a disruptive approach to operations to reduce the environmental impact of operations, an under the sectors most stringent bio-cultural legislation, highlights what can be achieved and a contracting approach that facilitates that.”
Weatherford are expected to continue with its FIRMA approach to decommissioning and will continue to expand globally in order to provide the most environmentally friendly services as an end-of-life contractor.
“The FIRMA EPSm approach has been deployed successfully in our Asia, Middle East and recently in European operations as Engineering, Procurement and Service Management contractor. In 2023, that business structure will expand into South America – with our expanded teams executing across the well decommissioning life cycle, as an end-to-end well decommissioning contractor,” commented Canny.
